The idea for this bronze came to me when I watched my Deerhound, Rune, gnawing on a bone in the yard. I was very taken by the lovely lithe curves of his body as he lay in the grass, so totally engrossed. I hastily sketched out the idea and substituted a found antler for the bone. It is no wonder that the Scottish Deerhound’s grey, sinuous beauty has been admired by so many, from the times of Mary Queen of Scots, Queen Victoria, Sir Edwin Landseer, Anna Hyatt Huntington, Sir Walter Scott, and others.
